Y.M.C.A. INSTITUTE
TEMUKA BRANCH. The Temuka branch, of the Y.M.C'.A. was opened on Thursday evening in rooms at the corner of High and King Streets. The rooms are beautifully fitted up, and reflect great credit on Mr and Mrs C. Bates, who carried out the work. The Rev. J. Griffin presided at the opening ceremony, a.tid tliero were about 70 persons present. The Temuka Brass Band gave musical selections outside the rooms before the opening. Mr A. Frew (Mayor) congratulated the organisers on the success of their efforts, and said he had taken a great interest in the movement. He trusted it would havo a good effect throughout Temuka. Lieut. G. Hancox, a Tetnrned officer. described the splendid work done by the Y.M.G.A. in England . France. and New Zealand, and paM a liicli tribute to the Association, of wliioh bp could speak from personal experience.
