A Press 'cable from London reports that Lieutenant Archibald Hodges, of the Bedfords, a master of the Wanganui Collegiate School,, has been killed in action.

Sir M. J. O'Brien received word on Saturday that his brother, Private W. E. O'Brien, was wounded in France on the 20th." Hp. left her© with the 4th Reinforcements, and was on Gallipoli for five months. A cable was received by Mrs Elder, Temuka, on Saturday, stating that her son, Private Jim Elder, has been killed in France. Private Elder was the second son of Mr and Mrs J. Elder. He was educated at the Temuka District High School and previous to his enlistment was in the employment of Sirs C. Bates and Co. He left with tho 10th Reinforcements, and at the time of his death was twenty years of age

Private D. Clarke, "who recently died of wounds in France, was well known in South Canterbury. J-Je arrived at Fairlie ton years ago from the West Coast, and practised his profession as music teacher there, and more recently he extended his connection to Timaru. He was a keen golfer, the leader in all matters musical in the Faii-lie district, and conducted the Catholic church choir there for many years. He was for some time before his departure conductor of the Sacred Heart choir, Timaru.

Gosling, of Levels, was advised on Saturday that his e'dest son, Rifleman O. W." Gosling, has died of wounds on the 15th inst. The late Rifleman was a well set up man of sterling character. He went with the sth and Bth contingents to the South African war, and left for the present war with the 7th Reinforcements. He was a brother of Mrs M. J. O'Brien, of Highfte'd.

Mr R. Hammond, of Tc Moana, received a telegram from the Defence Minister on Saturday informing him that his son, Private A. J. Hammond, who went to the Front with* the Tenth Reinforcements, had been wounded in France.

Mrs J. Scobie, Collins 'Street, has received word from the Minister foi" Defence that her son, Bombardier W. Scobie, has been wounded in France. Bombardier Scobie left "Wellington with tho Main Bodv. A cablo has been received stating that Private Thomas Taylor M"Dougall, has been wounded in France. Private McDougall is the youngest son of Mrs J. McDougall, Heaton Street. He is not yet twenty years of age, and left with the Sixth Reinforcements.

Mr and Mrs David Ward, South Slioet. have received official intimation that their second son, K. J. David, 3rd Battalion, Rifle Brigade, was wounded in Franco oil September 15, and admitted to hosiVtal.

Mr F. Nelligan, of Pleasant Point, lias been officially advised that his' brother. Timothy Nelligan, was i wounded on the left arm and lias been I sent to England.
