THE FEDERAL" BUDGET. OLD AGE PENSIONS INCREASED. Received 5.55 p.m., Sept. ;28fch. ■' MELBOURNE, Sept. 28. The Federal Budget provides for an increase of old age and invalid pensions.
FLOODS IN VICTORIA. LARGE AREA THREATENED. Owing to iiho. floods there is little hope of the levels on -tho lower Goulburn standing against the tremendous volume of water in tho Goulburn, where, when it goes at least a hundred and fifty thousand acres will be inundated and all tho townships in tho lower Goulburn will be wholly or partly under water. One of Chinonck's sons, referred to in a cable on tho 26th was found eighteen hours later in' a tree. His littlo sister was with him, but shortly beforo the Tescue she fell into the river, and was drowned.
MYSTERIOUS TRAGEDY. SYDNEY, Sept. 2S. A mysterious tragedy has occurred. Constable Dunstan was found shot dead at Tottenham Police Station. The indications aro that he was engaged >n typewriting when he was killed. There is no clue to tho mystery.
