'The Post Office Savings Bank deposits in July totalled £1,392,498, this sum -exceeding -the withdrawals by £372,759. 11l August tlio deposits were £1,353.905, and tlie withdrawals £] ,668,011, tlio withdrawals. tlms exceeding the deposits by £314,103. For tlio first seven days of September the withdrawals exceeded the. deposits by £214 852. These heavy withdrawals; it is pointed out, wero made during- tho period that tlio' War Loan was open for subscription, and in view of tho fact that approximately ten millions sterling was raised in tho Dominion, it is considered remarkable that the Savings Bank finances have been so slightly disturbed.
