Mr Holman (Premier") informed tlm Assembly that every department of the public servieo had been instructed to remove any Germans in. positions of a confidential nature, or who might have access to confidential documents. WORK OF "WOMEN. The Women's Commonwealth Patriotic Association has resolved on a pledge campaign to assist Australian manufactures and not buy enemy goods. The Association approved of registration of women for national service, and if need be compulsory service. It was decided to hold a housekeepers' conference for the purpose of advocating thrift. STAFF APPOINTMENTS. NEW ZEALAND OFFICERS. LONDON, August 2SMajor John G. Hughes, of the New Zealand Forces, has been gazetted aide-de-camp; Captain Alfred Morton. °'. the N.Z. Staff Corps, Staff-Cap-tam; Lieutenant-Colonel Charters, of the New Zealand Forces, commandant or the base depot; and Second Lieutenant D. A. McCurdy, of the New Zealand Forces, assistant director of postal services. ,
