;FRENCH OFFICIAL REPORT. PARIS, Aug. 25. Tliis .day's communique from the Dardanelles is as follows: — The British left wing in the northern cone, has made fresh progress and during the past few days'has earned eight hundred metres of enemy trenches. The operations in the southern zone are confined to artillery actions and patrol encounters. A French company on the night- of August 23 successfully surprised a Turkish listening pest. A counterattack was repulsed. Our aviation squadron despite a violent Sre from the enemy's batteries successfully bombed the landing-places at Agbashilliman on the European, coast. Northward of Nagara one of our aeroplanes sank a big Turkish transport at her moorings. CRUISERS IN DARDANELLES. ATHENS, Aug. 25. Two Allied cruisers penetrated the Dardanelles on Sunday and successfully bombarded the batteries at Katharea (Krithia ?). Desperate fighting is continuous in the sector KitzSa-Ari Bnrnn. Last week a British submarine sank four large sloops that were transporting troops from Lapsaki (Asiatic side) to Gallipoli.
