Before conchiding the gathering Major Gabites made reference to thi promotion of two of the Association'smembers, namely, Lieut.-Col. R. Hea ton Rhodes and Captain H. S. N Robinson Comrade Lieut. O'Callaghan movec that the following motion of congratu lation be sent to these members: — To Colonel Rhodes —''That thi: meeting of South African veteran; congratulate their patron. Colonel R Heaton Rhodes, on bis appointment tf look after the interests of our boys a* the front- they are quite confident knowing him in the past, that thr wants of our boys will be well attendee 1 to by him." The motion was carrier unanimously. To Captain Robinson—"That we congratulate our old comrade, Captain H S. Robinson, on his being appointed to a command at the Front, where we arc sure he will make as good a soldier as he made in his initial work as Adjutant to the 2nd South Canterbury Regiment."
