A cable message from London reports the death of Sir Stephen. Furness, Liberal M.P. for Hartlepool. At the meeting of the Borough ;Council last night li'-s Worship tiie Mayor (Mr E. R. Guinness) made sympathetic reference to the death of the late Mr John Eraser, and -spoke appreciatively of his work as a member and chairman of the Timaru Harbour Board. Tho Council should pass a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the deceased. Such a resolution was •passed on the motion of Councillors Hard lev and Hunt.
