TEMUKA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual congregational meeting of ilie Tcnuika Presbyterian Church was si.li! on Thursday evening. There was a lair attendance and the Rev. C'. Maedona Id presided. SESSION REPORT. The session report, presented by tho Rev. C. Macdoiiatel. stated inter alia that by tho departure of Mr D. Shaw to another district, and the death oi Mr .J. Guild, tho membership had been reduced, and the session left tlie poorer. They desired to express their thankfulness for the long and faithful services rendered by both gentlemen to the congregation. Except the visit- of the Presbytery, nothing out of tho ordinary course had taken place during the year. The visiting members had expressed Themselves as highly pleased with the- state of tilings generally. Tho Sunday 'services at Temuka, and tlie other centres bad been maintained regularly, and the attendance on the whole liad been very good. Tlie minister bad officiated at nineteen marriages, twenty baptisms, and six funerals during the year. Twenty-lour new names had been addfd to the. communion roll, while twelve had been removed through death and departure. The sacrament of the Lords supper liad been dispensed quarterly, and the attendance on each occasion had been considerably over 100 The members of the Session wished to place on record their liigli appreciation of the work carried out by the leaders of the Bible classes; the superintendant and teacliers of the Sabbath School; ani? also of tho efficiency of tho elioir under tlie leadership of Mr Proudlock. They also desired to tliank those who had collected for tlie various schemes connected with tho church, the collections being higher than thoso for any previous year. MANAGERS REPORT. Tlie following report was presented by the Managers:— lti presenting tho report for another year, tho Managers wish to express their thanks l'or tho continued liberal support given by the members and adherents of the congregation. There had been contributed: By envelope, £ISS ISs 3d. in loeso cash, £92 18s 2d; by subscriptions and otherwise, £348 lis 7d. This list included a contribution to Dr. Ivirk's scheme, proceeds of annual soiree, Y.L. B.C. concert, the amount raised for various missions. Nurse Milne's work and donations frontthe- Bible classes. The collections for the different church schemes had increased considerably in comparison with last year. They were pleased to call attention to the establishment of a new mission cluirge, taken partly from Geraldino and partly from Temuka, extending from the Rangitata- to the Orari rivers. Three gentlemen from the Temuka district were showing their interest in tho expansion of the Presbyterian cause by contributing £lO enc-h "to this praiseworthy scheme. Tlie thanks of the Managers were due to Messrs D. Taylor and L. 6. Scrimshaw for auditing the books. MANAGERS. Tho following were appointed Managers without an election: —Messrs J. Blyt-li, G. Thompson, D. B. Muir, J; Hislop. L. G. Scrimshaw. J. Paterson, A. Guild. M. Guild, T: Monalian, J. Davey.. Wm. Davev, and A. Davey. Referring to the new charge the Rev. C. Mncdonald went fully into the o'd and now arrangement. He said that Air McCully had canvassed tho. whole district very thoroughly and I i through him contributions to the amount of £1.12 had been promised. In "addition they would receive a. grant of £3O from the- Extension .Fund, and £lO rfom each of threo Temuka gentlemen. Over and above these amounts there would be the special Sunday collections. It was therefore obvious that they could offer their Homo missionary ft(aiily good salary. Dr. Gibb had promised him iho best of a batch of now men who were coming out from the Old Country. r i hey were* working short handed in tho Presbytery at present. and nearly half of the charges were vacant. In conclusion. Mr Macdonald said that the work of the church was growing steadily, and that they must all work together if it was to bo overtaken.
