CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCB MARKET.
(Per Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH. Sept. i. The local grain market is practic lily at a standstill. No gain is offering from the country, or at least only 0'.'.l lots lor which prices are asked that buyers aro not prepared to give. ' c is impossible to say what aro ruling prices, as the only business '.lat is passing is between second holders, and urgent buyers have to make the l>esi bargain they can. The chaff market is somewhat easier, and although £3 is asked at country stations, only those who are wanting immediate supplies are prepared to pay this figure if they cannot do hottor. The potato market is very dead, as it is difficult to make sales in northern markets .and merchants have still stocks on hand to dispose of. The j»rice is nominally £2 at country stations. with a poor demand.
