JAVA SEAS PROBABLY CLEAR. FREMANTLE, Sept. 3. Owing to the number of German vesvels that have taken refuge in Java, the authorities thought that possibly there were German cruisers in the vicinity. Steamers now leaving the west coast for Singapore indicate that Java waters are clear of the enemy's cruisers. ANOTHER CAPTURE, MELBOURNE, Sept. 3. The German steamer Hessen has arrived unaware of the war, and is detained.
