A MANSLAUGHTER CASE.

(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCmntCH, March 4. Alexander Thomson, charged with manslaughter in connection with' the death of his mother, "in consequence of the rupture of a varicose vein, was committed for trial. A new feature was introduced into the case hy the evidence of a child, a brother of accused, and son of deceased. The charge arose from a hlow received hy deceased during a quarrel between her son Alexander, and a. man named Baxter with whom she lived. The boy stated that Baxter told him after his mothers death, to say that Alexander gave his mother a blow, and knocked her down. That statement was untrue. Baxter stated in evidence that Alexander Thomson struck his mother four times knocking her down against a box causing rupture of a varicose vein.
