Ellis with a set of military brushes in case, and m doing so said that Mr Eilis was one of tho first members of the Brigade in Timaru, and whilo tiuey regretted losing the old members (who are becoming few in number) they congratulated -Mr Ellis on his promotion, to bo engine-driver at I'alniorston North, ilr Hughson, chief supt., endorsed tho previous speaker's remarks, and referred to Mr Ellis's good qualities as a railway man, . and said that they were 6orry to loso him. Ho wished him every success in his new home. Sergeant Harris and Hon. Sec. Homo also endorsed tho above remarks. Mr Eiiis, in reply, thanked members for their present and kind romarks, and said that though ho was sorry to leavo Timaru, he must accept promotion when it came, ne would, after settling down, continue as a member of ' the Ambulance Brigade in his nfiv I home.
