It w-as decided to apply to the Dei partment for a grant for the erection I of a school suitable to hold 35 children. , CORRESPONDEVCE. Mr W. Mr Lyell reported on the fencing at I'areora East. The. fence was a good substantial imp with nothing extravagant about it. He offered to meet the committee, go into the ratter of fencing the residence, and report at next report at next meeting.—Agreed to. Mr Maze said the Board had already refused a request for fencing from AVashdyke. They should treat all alike. Members said that justice would be dona to Washdyke. Mr Petc-rsou asked for a ii.-iowal of his lease at Pareora West.—Agreed to. AVaitolii Upper asked for" a new boiler and a w.e.—Agreed to. On the suggestion of Mr M.,zo it was decided to apply to the Department for a residence "for the master at tlw Point, the present residence being unfit to live in, ACRICULTUTUL IXSTRUCTOH, A long letter was read from Mr Brown, agricultural instructor. It was taken in committee, and it was decided to reply as follows to- the writer. —That the Board regrets the tone of Mr Brown's letter; that ha is under a misconception as to tho attitude of the Board towards liini; that no discourtesy was • intended in not calling him into the room when his resignation was accepted, such a procedure being unusual with the Board: that tho Board accented his •{ion as from January 30th, because they understood from his letter that lie should leave when it suited him to do so; that tho organisation of his work had been left to himself; that no resolution had been passed to the effect that tha Board should not go outside the Dominion for a successor to him; that the Board appreciates the fact that he has done valuahle work, and would doubtless hare appreciated it more had regular reports poncerning~t been, supplied to them:; that the terms of his agreement with the Board be adhered to, and that ho be thanked for his suggestions regards ing a successor. . The appointment of a successor to 3ir Brown was deferred. 'Fh'e I'imai-u High School Board advised that they desired to have no connection with the payment of any new agricultural instructor who might be appointed.
