Particulars have been advertised of the fvithcotuiiig dauce to be held on Kridsiy next, 7th July, by the T.maru Brarc'i of the Navy League. A strong committee of lathes and gontlemen arc Bparing no pains to make this a success and from present indications the dance bids fair to be one of the laost enjoyable held in Timaru for some time.

Not the least attractive feature of tiic evening's entertainment is a very intere>ting leetura by MFH. F. Milner of Woitaki, whoso subject will be "The History of the British Navy." Mr Milner is a proninent member of tho Otago Branch of the Navy League and is an authority on naval matters. Tho lecture will be illustrated by suitable lantern slides and will take place prior to the, dance.

On Wednesday afternoon little- M!ss Beatrice Webster, looking sweet as "Julif-t" in a pale blue gown and paarl studded cap, was at home to her small friends, who also donned their Coronation robes, or rather, fancy dresses. Miss A. Evans made a picturesquei'lvabe Greenaway; Miss Brenda Newman, a gay Norwegian Girl; Miss Kthel LeOon, a lively Pierette; Miss Val. Tenn-mt, a. sweet little Ohorrv Ripe; Miss J. Seott, ~i charming rank daisy drain; Miss M. Scott, a dainty forget-me-not; Miss Sibyl Rutherford, a cosy winter;' Miss Marjory Moore, a delightful little Japanese Girl; Miss L. Candy a small and shy snow-maid ; Miss Marie Taylor looked borny in white to represent Canada; and Miss Ineri Smith looked ivell in white and pink. Last, but not least th? man of the party, Master Bruce Bn>.ter, as a verv happy little llussian Count, did much "to keep things going. A delicious tea was served in the dining room, the table being loaded with good thin<rs and gaiiv decorated with flowersT Bar's and randies Mrs B.ixtor, Mrs Scott and Mrs Candy assisted Mrs Webster, and the children had a trulv enjoyable tjme. Mr and Mrs J. L. Clarke, of Christchurch, who hav? l»en touring in tho South for some weeks past, vere the .guests of Mrs Woodley, Otipua P.oad, on ' Monday, and returned to Chriafcehurch by tho second express that day.
