Jiat should be done on Arbor Day this year —if anything. Mr C. S. Howard had been nominated for re-electi6n to the Education Board as representative of the Middle Ward. Mr Howard had proved a really live member of the Board in the past, and it was to bo honed that he would be re-elected. (ftear. hear.) He * had authorised the headmaster to close the school at 1 o'clock on the day of the Coronation football match, and would like tlie committee to approve of his action. (Members unanimously approved.) It had been suggested that tlie schools should l>e given a whole week's holiday but tlie chairman of the throe town schools had mat and decided that thw was not desirable. By tho courtesy of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College he had* received a popv of the 38th annual report of'the institution; it was ■ a very interesting •publication. Tlie thauks of the committee were tendered to Mr W. Satterthwaite and the ex-pupils of the school who had given the flag and shield; also to Mr W. A. Pear.=on for his gift of a medal for football.
