APPEALS AGAINST DISMISSAL, Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June x. An appeal against dismissal was the subject of a. hearing by the North Island Railway Appeal Board to-dav. lhe appellant was. Joseph William Ha-jglno, who was last a fireman and acting engine-driver at Cross Creek and the alleged ground of his dismissal was his failure to come on dutv at tlie proper time, and that his intoxicated condition made him unfit to take charge of an engine. The Hoard comprised Dr MeArthur S.M., (chairman), Mr C. P. Ryan (representing the first division), 'and Mr C. 0. Lee (representing the second division). Mr V. D. Clark represented the appellant, and the auditor, Mr H. Davidson, was the Department's advocate. Haughie on oath declared that his unusual state was due to lack of sleep and illness, though he had not thought of mentioning this to the locomotive foreman when he was accused of drunkenness.
