• ♦ A SHIPMENT TO 'FRISCO. VANCOUVER TRADE PROSPECTS. The ejs. Muitai, which left Auckland on the 14th for San Francisco, had u shipment of buttur for Vancouver nnd also a aniail quantity for Ban Francisco, Included in tlie shipment for Vancouver are 3600 boxes loaded at Wellington, and 1197 shipped at Auckland. Thor* was also a shipment of SB boxes for tb* islands The consignment for San Francisco consists of 25 boxes. These Mo being sent by nn Auckland firm m an expert ment. At the present time there seems little prospect of working up a, trade with the Amorioan port, a reporter was informed, owing to tlie high duty of, six cents per lb, which prevails there. U this duty were reduced materially, however, there might bo a possibility of more trade being dono in this market.
