The President referred in sympathetic terms to the death, of Mr R.idburn who had been an enthusiastic member of tho socioty, and it was resolved that a message of sympathy bo scut from tho society to his widow. The honorary treasurer. Mr J. Thomson, null Mr Mitchell, secretary, presented a balance-sheet for tho year ending December 31st, 1010. Tlio receipts showed a total of £1.1)5, including a balance of £3 3s lid brought forward from tho previous voar. The President said the Society had gono back a little financially. They still had a small credit balance, hut this result had only been attained by an appeal ho had made to members. This appeal had been promptly and generously responded to, a sun) of ±.'l2 being subscribed. It should not be necessary to make appeals of th.s sort, and there must be something wrong when a society like this, which had been in existence so long, and holding a good show every year, could nut maico any headway hnuneially. The society paid out, last year, £25 10s in cash trophies. These vers easily won, and the money was therefore to a large extent wasted, and that item could be curtailed with advantage in future. The President made some remarks on tho last show, an excellent one in every' respect, save that the public did not patronise it as it deserved. Mr Burns expressed his appreciation of tho way in winch the Society had been supported by donations, £35 having been given in cash donations, lie repeated ins advice of former years, that an effort should be made to add 3UU or 3UO pens to tho assets of tho Society. In conclusion, Mr Burns cordially thanked his coworkers for tho way they had ass.sted him during tho year, and expressed the hope tnat they would continue to stick together and do their utmost to make the Society a financial success. He moved the adoption of tho report. The secretary pointed out that the Society gave, away too mudh of thedr entrance money. Tho Christciurch Society made a profit of la off every entry, whereas the South Canterbury Society only made Is profit off 16 entries. Mr Niinmo-Scott said they should claim 6d off each entry. This was ■what another society with which he bad been connected did. After «. little further discussion tho balance-sheet was adopted. It was generally agreed that one of tho reasons why the Society is not to prosperous now as formerly is that it is not possible to make so much out of the art union. Mr S. R. Burns was unanimously reelected President, 'and other officers elected were:—Vice-President's, Messrs D. Nimmo-Scott, G. H. .Blair, G. F. Martin, W. Lillico, J~. Thomson. G. Thomson, R. Warrington, T. Yelland, and Mrs- G. F. Martin. Forty-eight patrons were all re-elected. Mr J. Thomson was re-elected Treasurer (for the 16th year in succession). For the position of secretary it was decided that applications be called, Mr Mitchell resigning from the position. Mr F. C. Watson was appointed auditor GENERAL MEETING. ' The South Island Wyandotte Club wroto offering to give its special prizes for competition at Timam show in June next, provided the judge appointed met with the approval of tho Club. Several names of eligible judges were forwarded. The President and Mr Blair strongly recommended acceptance of the offer, and on the motion of Messrs Lillico and Kc-r the offer was unanimously accepted, and Mr E. J. Ross, of Fendalton, was selected as the special judge. A_ dozen exlubitnrs of pigeons from Christchurch forwarded a letter stating that they would not again show at Tiniaru if certain men whom they named, were appointed as judges.—Received. ' _ Ten local fanciers wrote stating that a suggestion had been made for the formation of a Fanciers' Club to be run in conjunction with the Society, the club to cater for dogs and eate of all breeds and sizes. The judges appointed would be breeders and fanciers from Dunedin and Christchurch. If the Fanciers' Club were run on proper lines it would pay handsomely, and add greatly to the popularity of the annual show. ! The matter was discussed, and it was decided to hold a special meeting on next Friday week to meet a deputation from the fanciers, and go into tho matter fully. The secretary to the South Island Association advised that the half-yearly meeting would be held at Christchurch. on June 2nd, and the annual meeting in November next at Dunedin. The Executive asked that no judge be approached by any club in reiereuce to judging championship and shield classes at their shews until the name of any nominated judge lias b:<en approved by the Council. They also desired clubs to send in a list of judges they consider competent to judge tho various breeds for the championship and shield classes. Mr T. Yelland. one of the oldest members of the society and one of its original promoters, was made a life member of the society. Messrs J. Loder and W. Schraeder were appointed members. This concluded the business and the meeting closed.
