His Excellency the Governor and the Premier passed through Timaru yesterday morning by the first southward bound express. The Hon. D. Biiddo arrived in Christchurch yesterday, and the Hon. Dr Findlay left Wellington for Christchurch by the Mararoa last night. . The Rev. W. Baumber went to Fairlie yesterday afternoon, to spend a week or two there to recuperate after his recent illness. The Governor has purchased the Viking, one of the largest and most luxuriously appointed yachts in Auckland harbour. She is. to be re-fitted and made ready for commission in March. The members of St. Mary's Guild have arranged to take farewell of the Rev. S. Trerico Adams after their meeting next Wednesday at the Vicarage. The Timaru No-License League has passed a resolution Tegretting the loss the League sustains by the departure of the Rev. S. Buchanan, who has rendered valuable service in the no-license cause, gratefully recording appreciation of his services as treasurer, and trusting that in his new sphere he will be able to continue his services in the cause-. His Excellency tlie Governor will Tisit Mount Cook before returning north a fortnight hence. The Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, accompanies Lord Islington on his visit to Southland and Stewart Island, but will not go with him to Mount Oook. Sir Joseph will probably return to Christchurcb. next Tuesday. At a meeting of the Dunedin Hospital Board lasD night the resignation of Miss Fraser, who has filled the position of Matron for 19£ years, was accepted ,with regret, and a 'committee was appointed to report as to the btst means of making some suitable and permanent recognition of her labours in Donedin Hospital, and in the interests of nursing generally. At the meeting of the Dr Henry Mission Executive, last night, the following motion was unanimously adopted: "That this meeting of the executive (composed of representatives from the local churches and the Salvation Army) desires to convoy to the Rev. S. Trerice Adams their warm appreciation ot his good work in Timaru, and expresses the hope that ha may have a pleasant journey to !tho Homeland, and that he may be abundantly blessed in his work there." A similar motion was adopted, also Tinauimcusly, with respect to the . Rev. S. Buchanan, who has just left for Wellington.
