CHBISTCHUBCH CASES RETURN, (par Fran Association.) CHBISTCffIJRCH. Jan. 26. . A- return of civil cases brought before the Supreme Court at Christ* 'church, 1910 shows there were 'nTpf <jf summons issued. Seven vera brought under the " extraordinary remedy/' nod six were disposed by speciajJrcaee. The Judge sitting alijna heard 52 cases; there were 41 fm<in£R for plaintiif and 19 for defendants. The amounts for which judgments were recorded totalled £lO,IS6. In the previous year amounts of judgments totalled ilOj-12. There were 2-4 applications for dissolution of marriage, one for judicial separation, fliyj two for nullity of marriage. Decrees were granted in all cawe. In 1909 there were 30 applications for dissolution. of marriage, and the same - number of decrees were issued. The criminal return sets out that the actual number 01 persons indicted lor various offences was 53 males and on© female. There were 34 males convicted and sentenced. There were live assault and robUry cases, in which there were three convictions. Indecent assault numbered eight and live "convictions were recorded. Three were, convicted and sentenced for attempted rape, three cases of alleged carnal knowledge were dismissed. Altogether 14 *viv* of alleged assaults on females were heard, and eight convictions resulted. Thirteen persons were charged with theft,-and nice were convicted. There were two males convicted •of arson. Torgery and uttering was responsible .for five cases, in which fourconvictions were Recorded. There were two convictions for breach of probation. Twenty-three males and one femal* were committed for sentence un<Vr the M Indictable Offenoes Summary; Jurisdiction Amendment Act, 1900. ', • The return for 1909 shows that there were- 59 persons—s6 males and 3 females—indicted, of whom 35 males were convicted and sentenced.
