The Minister of Customs interviewed Mr FowlJs regarding Customs administration as between the two countries; also regarding reciprocal trade. He drew BpCcial attention to complaints by some Federal members last session that the treaty between South Africa and Now Zealand was giving a decided preferonco to South African wines, so that imports from Australia had fallen in the last throe years from 66,000 gallons to 51,000, while the imports from South Africa had increased frcm practically nil to 17,000 gallons. Mr wlds promised that these matters should have consideration. The High Commissioner in London reports that during the six months ended October, 19,599 passengers left for Australia, compared with 14,000 for the similar period of the previous year.
