Henry Bunning, aged 61, formerly employed by the Christcburch City Council, died in hospital lato laSl night. The circumstances attending his admission to the institution are somewhat painful. Running, who occupied a small cottage in a lane off Madras Street, was on the 4th inst. found by two neighbours lying in his yard, apparently very ill. They informed the police, and the man was removed to the hospital. He was found to be suffering from appendicitis, and peritonitis set in,' causing his death. Bunning lived alone, and it is possible that had he sought assistance a day ur two earlier his life would have been saved.
