It might have been oxpected that a car entered and specially prepared for the trials by a trading firm would have secured the Important prize for petrol consumption, and the splendid performance put up by Mr N. Gilchrist's 15 h.p. TALBOT CAR, which ran 42£ ton miles per gallon of petrol, is therefore all the more noteworthy. Mr Cllchrlst'S TALBOT BEAT EVERY OTHER privately owned car, securing first prize and the Star Engineering Company's 100 guinea Silver Challenge Gup, the blue ribbon of the motoring world. It also BEAT EVERY CAR IN THE TRIAL on petrol consumption, doing over two ton miles to the gallon better than lis most economical opponent. This proves conclusively that the Talbot oar is just as reliable In the hands of the average car-owner as it is when driven and equipped by experts. The point Is one which need not be laboured. This latest and most striking success of the Talbot in competition, -taken in conjunction with Its long list of successes in local trials, loaves no doubt as to which is the most reliable, most honestly constructed, and most economical car for use in New Zealand.
