Six persons were killed in a' train accident on the Miller Creek railroad, Kentucky, where a collision occurred between a passenger train and coal cars. The latter accidentally broke loose from another train. AN AMERICAN FIRE. A fire wiped out a large area of the business section of. Oklahama City. Frozen hydrants were an obstacle to the fire brigade. A MINE EXPLOSION. ' SIX MEN CUT OFF. OTTAWA, Jan. 4. By an explosion in the Nova Scotia Steel Company's mine, eight men were cut off. Two were rescued through a lower level. A fire and a roof fall followfd the explosion. Rescuers are preparing to descend. Pankhurst'B woodware and brushware factory at Riverton was destroyed by fire vesterday morning. The loss is put at £IOOO. ■ The remains of Thomas Donnelly, a prospector who was missed on April 12th last, were found yesterday morning by a party of campers aear the Mount Holdsworth track. _ He had evidently fallen over a cliff and died from exposure. A wahrf labourer named Charles Poison, aged 49, was killed at Gisborne yesterday morning whilst working in the hold of a lighter, a sling containing 7owt of salt falling on him. Death ms instantaneous.
