JOHNSON V. JFJFFIUES.TO.NIGHT.. To-night in the Theatre Royal, the much discussed contest between Jack Johnson and Jim Jeffries will bo shown by means of the biograph under the management of the MacMahon , Bros. The "Lyttelton Times" commented on the performance in the following strain: —'• Tho statement of a leading London paper,, that anyone who would bo shocked by the pictures of the . Johnson-Jeffries battle would bo demoralised by a cab accident, was fully borne out last night at tho Theatre Royal when tlio much-talked-of pictures wero shown for the first time by the MacMahon Bros*. The pictures, as an entertainment, were among the best yet seen liore. Boxing films arc supposed to bo abhorrent to ladies, but last evening an audience that packed the theatre included a great many of ,the fair sex, who seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly. The main interest in the films was their exceptional clearness and detail. The portraits of exchampions and well-known boxers and sportsmen were excellently arranged and highly interesting, and tho scenes showing the contestants training and at home, the crowds at Reno, and tho officials, were often diverting, ■ and always clever. Tho of the fifteen, rounds of'the contest were wonderfully good,-Johnson's "surprise left," Jeffries' head-«].owii attack, and the obvious superiority of tho black nian, being leading features. The programme included some splendid dramatic subjects, and also, an exceedingly' comic one .by that wonderful comedian Max Liiider." . ; Seats can be, booked at the Dresden, and there will be no.early door charges. ,■:; FULLERS' PICTURES. Tliose in search of clear;, bright entertainment are being 'catered for nightly, by Messrs J". Fuller and Sons who- are screening picked programmes nightly at the Olyrapia. Stocking," a realistic pictured .production. x " The Italian Lakes," a beautiful -production of the new, Agency Film' Company, and illustrates all the most beautiful spots of one' of the ! fairest parts of .the earth, ending in n glorious sunset, such as is only seen in that country. Another'new kinemato-' graphic subject is- " Poultry Breeding," ■ and this will appeal to almost every-

body, showing as it does the up-to-date methods on one of tha largest poultry farms in ijio world. "Chink, of tha Goldeu West," is an American biograph drama, with a stirring story of the wester 1 mining life. Loui"l;s is a scenic. treat, showing some exquisite views of, this famous French town. A romance of tho Spanish-Do-minions "In old California," is a pictured story, unique in its tjie «f what might have been. The humorous subjects aro really comical and include "Foolshead as vr Red Cross, : ' Mrs Clarke's Birthday," , and . the -'.Mag. netic Squirt." •
