WINCHESTER NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Wednesday afternoon Winchester School beat Waiiu School at cricket on the Winchester Domain. The game was played on the matting pitch, 'ijuu Waihi t-eam was much weaKer tlian usual owing to the absence of several of the best players. \\ inchestcr batting first made 71 (W. Elsom 33 not out, L. Donnithorne 14 A. bcott 13). Waihi made 32 (Burdon 22). Turnbull 4, was shaping well when he was run out. In the second innings Winchester made 20, Scott getting 17 by good hitting. Burdon 6 wickets and 4 wickets, and Macfarlane 4 wickets 2nd innings, were Waihi's best bowlers, and Elsom and Scott got all the wickets for Winchester. Afternoon tea was supplied by the Winchester school girls assisted by Mrs lvalaugher. The quarterly meeting of the Winchester Domain Board was held on "Wednesday • evening. Present—Messrs R. Smith (chairman), J. Opie, H. E. Smith and W. Harrison. The secretary reported that tlio tender of Mr XV. H. Palmer had been accepted for the lease of the Lower Domain, and that £l6 had been paid into the Board's account. Mr H. E. Smith reported that the tln*ee fences along the avenue had been removed and a new fence erected on the outside. The main road fence had been repaired. A new dividing fence on the south side had been erected (the Teniuka and G-eraJ-dine A. and P. Association paying half cost of this). The trees had been thinned in the plantation along tho main road, and toi>ped by the windmill. The cost was £l6 7s 3d for labour, and £l9 4s 6d for material, against which the Board received £l3 15s as royalty on the timber. Accounts totalling £35 16s 3d were passed for payment. The sale of the old fencing material was left to Sir H. E. Smith. The Temuka and Geraldine Agricultural and Pastoral Association made application for the use of the Sports Domain to hold an autumn show in some time near next Easter. It was decided to grant the use of the Domain, the Association to repair all damage done and to keep off the cricket ground. It was decided to erect a stile at the lower end of the avenue.
