PURE RADIUM.

. j Mme. CURIE'S DISCOVERY. Mme. Curie, widow of the distinguished scientist, has, in collaboration with Professor Dibienne, of the Faculty of Science, succeeded in isolating pure radium. It has been a labour of love for Mme. Curie, and for some years she has conducted alone this search for metallic radium. Hitherto the radium obtained has beeu in the form of a bromide or chloride. Experimenting with onetenth of a gramme of the bromide of radium Mme. Curie succeeded in obtaining an infinitesimal quantity of pure radium. The radium has been placed in a tube, and when the new Curie institute is built it will be placed there permanently.
