The following axe tlie Baliarat Baud Competition results: — In the horn solos there were fortyfour competitors. Bowes, Wanganui, secured third place. There were eighty-eight competitors in the B flat cornet. Bickley, Wanganui, tied with Gore, Victoria. for first place. The New Zealander was beaten in the play off. McComas, Victoria, was third; Gore got the possible. Baritone Jensen, Wanganui, 1; Harrop. Victoria, 2; Hebin, Victoria S. The judge remarked that the standard of playing equalled that of England. DTJNEDIN CONTEST; SECOND DAY; DTJNEDIN, Oct. IS. The band contest was continued this morning. Results:— Soprano Cornet—C. Morse (Dunedin* Citizen), 48, 1; A. Hoskeu (Ashburton) 46, 2; W. Thomas (Moraington) and T. Dix (Lyttelton) equal, 45, 3. Flugel Horn—T. McLean (Morning, ton) 49, 1; J. Currie (Kaikorai) 4S, 2; E. Neeman (Kaikorai), 46, 3. In the quartette competition eleven teams competed, No. 1 team from Woolstt-t—R. J. Estall, C. Dunn, "R. Barber . nd G. Wilson—scored the maximum number of points and came first. The quartette representing Lyttelton Marine Band—H. Fox, A. Griffiths, L. Wendleborn and W. J. Sullivan, and No. 1 quartette from Kaikorai Band— E. Kerr, G. LaJdlaw, D. "Whelan and J. A. O'Brien—each scored 49 points and were awarded second place. The following bands were also representedMornineton (2 teams). South Canterbury Battalion, Dunedin Citizens, Wbolston (2) and Kaikorai (2). The eeonng was in nearly •everv instance retcarkably high, the'judge" stating that be had some diffieultv in separating some of the contestants. A garden party was held in the afternoon.
