DEFEATED BY THE LAW. (Per Press Association,) ( NELSON., Oct. 17. At tlio Magistrate's Court at Mctueka to-day the landlord of the Mo-t-ueka Hotel was charged on information 01 tlio C-aptaiii of the Salvation Army with assault. Tlio circumstances were that the informant went into the bar of the hotel for the purpose of taking up a collection, mid when requested to leave did not do so as espeditously as the landlord desired. ami the latter ejected him. The Magistrate ht>!d that informant had no iegul right to >io into the hotel canvassing tor collections, and not leaving immediately when requested to do so, the landlord was justified in eject--ar; him. provided no unnecessary force was used. The information was dismissed.
