Per Press Association. HAMILTON. Oct. 15. Last night at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council Councillor Arthur i'urze. aged o'-i. asked leave to retire, as lie was not fee'ung well. He readied home and wont to bed ami immediately expired. Mr Hamilton was a farmer and had b?en actively Connected with the Waikuto district i'or over twenty years. WELLINGTON, Oct, 15. Bayidon Ewen. a married man, 50 years i>t ag<-. an accountant, cut his throat this morning. He had been in ill-health for Some time pas:. DUNN DIN, Oct. 10. The. body of Eflie Burns, aged 19, daughter of James Burns. of Balelutha. was found in the Moiynenx river yesterday. It appears that she was anxious to go to service, but her father refused permission, and in consequence she ran away from home on June 1. 'J'he following night her £ather found her at the house of Mrs Vyeir, situated a few chains from the river. He then gave her five minutes to up her belongings and return She went to the room where -ser tnings were. shortly afterwards r V'ther went to the room, but the girl liad disappeared, and no trace of ner was found. It is understood that the post mortem showed that death was due to drowning.
