The Borough Council having decided to collect information relating to the installation of tramway systems the Town Clerk (Mr Virtue) addressed a letter to tho Town Clerk at 'W'anganiu, asking for particulars concerning tho trams there. Mr Virtue submitted a list of questions, and these together with the answers received, are as follows : Population of Borough —• 15.000, of which. 10,000 are served by' the trains. Area—3ooo acres. Rateable value —£125.000. Miles of main track—oi. Miles of branch track —Nil. Steepest gradient—About 1 in 25. Number of cars—Six.
