TEMUKA NOTES.
(Prom Onr Own Correspondent.) Labour Day passed off quietly at Temuka, beyond iiie closing of tlie shops nothing of special moment marked the day. Tile bowling <;reen and tennis courts n ere well patronised, and a. cricket mutch, Temuka v. Geraldine, claimed some attention. Temuka. winning the toss, went to the wickets and put together the respectable total oE 293 (Bradmore 74, Cantrell 64, Dunn 56, and Cox 41, playing excellent cricket). Geraldine replied with 5S (Dennehy 12 being the only double figure scorer). For Temuka Dunn 4 for 9, Fielden 2 for 1, Harbage 2 for 4 and Cox 1 for 6, bowled with success. The parishioners of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Temuka, met at the Parish Hall to -welcome the Rev. A. H. N orris M.A. (the newly appointed vicar), and also to say farewell to the Kev_ _H. Williams, who has been act-ing-vicar far the past five months. Oongratiilatory speeches of 'welcome were made by Messrs Twentyman (on behalf of Temuka), Bartrop and Smith I'tinr. (on behalf of Winchester), W*. Pearse (for Waitohi), and F. Talbot (for the Maoris). The Rev. C. Macdonald also spoke on beludf of the Presbyterian Church. On behalf of the parishioners, Mr Twentyman presented the Rev. Mr Williams with a handsomely framed photograph of St. Peter's Church. Addresses were delivered by the Revs. Messrs Norris and Williams, and Mr .Jno. Talbot : and musical items by the choir. Miss GapP° r , Dr Curtis, Master Comer. Mesdames Flood, James ayd Bambridge, helped to make an enjoyable evening. It is reported that Dr Crawshaw tas disposed of his practice and is eaiinc the district.
