LABOUR DAY PROCESSION.

To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald." I <lo si re to vont.il.ite a little .rrievam-e which 1 have in connection with the Labour Day procession. 1 was one of those who wont to some little trouble to malic a display \yortb\, as I thought, of the trade which 1 represent. That the juries Olcssrs \\ . R„ Pearson, D. Campbell, and I. J>. Youiit) considered that my display was not the worst there is evident from the fact that they placed me first in tlie competition for the host trades display. Judge of my surprise on finding tliat after they had done this. 1 was deprived of the honour—not by the ~. hut by the Labour Day Demonstration Committee, who said that I could not receive it because I was not in my right place in the procession. Just what difference this could make to the merits of my display [ am at a loss to understand, but the fact is I was not out of my place. I was allotted No. 11 in the procession, ind I occupied that position. Surely there is something wrong in treatment of this sort. If the Labour people want to make a success of their demonstration another year, they will not do it unless they improve upon this method of conducting their busi-

v.ess. In the meantime. 1 intend to claim the first prize, as it was awarded to me. ::;id everything so far as I am concerned was in order.—l am. etc., A. C, FAWCETT.
