THE TERRA NOVA. ARRIVED AT MELBOURNE. Press Association-By Telegraph-Copyright MELBOURNE, Oct. 13. The Terra Nova arrived yesterday after a good trip from the Capo. Captain .Scott, 011 being interviewed said he hoped to leave for New Zealand on Saturday. It was important to reach there quickly, as stores have to be collected, and the ponies broken in. He hopes to leave New Zealand at the end of next month and 1 reach McMurdo Sound, where the first deput will be made, at the end of December. He said tuat the expedition would be divided into two parties, the western and larger having its headquarters at McMurdo Sound and tho eastward party at King Edward's land. Prom one of thest posts Captain Scott will make a dash for the pole at the end of October next year. He expected to reach the upper plateau early in December and if possible the Pole on tho 22nd of that month, when the sun achieves its maximum altitude. S:£* Earnest Shackleton's route will be followed, with variations. Lieutenant Evans, who will lead the western parby, and Lieutenant Campbell the eastern party, are both experienced navy officers.
