An Ottawa magistrate boarded the trawler Chieftain and endeavoured to seize her, contended that she was fishing within' tlie three-mile limit. The captain maintained that he was Similes off shore, and offered to summon a gunboat to decide the position. The magistrate would not yield, and declining to return the trawler brought him to Hull.

A branch Royal mint is projected at ictoria, to mint coinage for the whole Union except the Protectorates. An Act to establish it is being modelled 011 the Canadian Act of 1901.
