SKATING. The management of the Olympia Kink have now reduced the lnro charge for ball-bearing skates, and skaters are showing their appreciation of this action by attending in considerable numbers. There will be two sessions to-da v.

HAYWAIID'S PICTURES. There was a good holiday house in the Theatre Royal last evening, and the fine picture programme presented found the audience in an appreciative mood. In the second half some now films of an interesting and varied character were presented. Of these "Darjeeling" was a beautiful scenic subject, describing' in attractive detail a pretty Indian village, wliile the best in the dramatic series was certainly '"The Spy," which depicted ah exciting story. Almost all travellers who see it are loud in their praise of the Country, are lud in their praise of the beautiful South American l'orfc "Uio de Janeiro,'' and patrons of the Theatre Koyal this evening will have the pleasure of gazing at its splendid harbour, the city, and its curious surroundings. The special dramatic, film of the series is "Tho Shepherd's Dog." a clever rural story of the love of his dog by a French lad. and the injustice dealt out to the dog by a cruel master.

'The Ostrich and the Lady." is a Splendid industrial film, and will show the preparation of the feathers from the bird to a fashionable Merry Widow hat. "The visit of Ex-President Roosevelt t.-> France," will pnurtray a number of interesting military manouci'rcs. and a splendid character sketch of this great American politician. A fine coloured Pathe subject is 'A Funeral in Annam." wherein the lively manner of this function with its strange devices, and vividly tinted processional banners is cleverly shown. "A Centurion's Daughter," and ''A Case of Identity," are two splendid dramatic pictures, the latter being a detective story of thrilling interest, "Victims of Fate" is an American Biograph of Wild West romance, and is splendidly told. The humorous films are said to make natrons 'dad, and comprise. "In love with the Charcoal Woman." "A night in Armour," "Tombolino," while Max Lir.de.r is once more to the front with a. real screamer, entitled "The Persuasive powers of a revolver."
