Tile annual meeting of the Albury Racing Club was held at Alburv yesterday and although there was'a slight fog in the morning the day turned out beautifully hue. There was a slight thunderstorm before the commencement of the last race, but it only lasted a few minutes, and the race's werte got off without a liitch of any kind. .the special train from Tiniaru was well patronised, and arrived at Alburv with about 250 passengers. The attendance was well up to last year, and the gate takings amounted to £3O. Five bookmakers were present being licensed at a fee of £3 3s each. They appeared to do good business, but as the favourites had all the best of it on the day s racing they could not have showed a large credit balance in their iavour at the end of the dav. The arrangements were of the verv best and everything went on with clockwork re gulant.y. thanks to the efforts of JUr J. S. Rutherford, the Club's enthusiastic president and his energetic committee. Mr Fred West made an ideal secretary and his genial manner and thoughtfulness for every little detail had a great deal to do with the success of the meeting. . The racing was very interesting, but in most cases the winner showed marked superiorly over the rest of the field and the victories of Heather Dew Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase, Fire- *?% ln th ° Weltsr, and Eaglestone in atMir«i mg were vei 'y GasiK ' attained. Gienheld seemed to be doing his test to stall off Firetway I)J msh J°? the OU P Bnd Lady DVh ran well f or a mile. The two facts were productive of good oon- .", '! d „ a ? «sy «-,n la the mile and a seri c , ? ry b ° ?t £ staU off °PM the sciatch horse in the two mile event, .taking it all round a capital day's that tin. club is hkely to .suffer by the new Gaming Act. It Would certainly he a matter for general regret to see such a well conducted meeting go to the wall. The following are details of the various events MAIDEN PLATE HANDICAP,' of 10 sovs second 1 sov from, the stake: about 6i furlongs. Mr H. A Glennie's b m Heather Mr w"V^ ? Approaching the finishing post, the first time round, Baltic was still in tho lead and led over the brush, fence, but Barney failed to rise and gave Trilford what appeared to be a nasty fall. Cleo was still in third place and Surprise was rapidly improving ]iis position. In the second round Baltic made a faulty jump at the same fence that brought Barney down, but Boyd made a good recovery and the game old Crackshot gelding went on full of running. Although Cleo threw out a strong challenge in the straight, Baltic won by a good two lengths, with Surprise ten lengths away third. These were the only ones to finish. Baltic won the same race last year, | and his win was very popular. Time, oniin. 26 2-osec.

A protest against Baltic receiving the stake was entered by Mr Butcher, the owner -of Cleo, on the grounds that J. Boyd, the rider of Baltic, was riding as an amateur on a professional license. The protest was dismissed by the stewards, as they had issued Boyd an emergency license which was quite in order. ALBURY CUP HANDICAP, of .25 bots, second horse 8 sovs; 1J mile. Mr J. W.
