FISHERMAN. (33) FISHERMAN (Duncan McLeod's) is a dashing bay horse, foaled 1903; stands about 16 hands high, with strong bone and good action. His sire, Silver Boy, by Kintore, by Honesty (imported American trotter, sire of Mystery, Honesty, etc.). Fisherman's dam Ruby, by-Lavender (trotter) ; 2nd dam by 'Douglas King (McCulloch's, imported Scotch trotting cob) by Harry Douglas, by Old Champion Douglas. Silver Boy was a good porformer, having won the Mooroopna Handicap Trot, Finley (N.S.W.) Handicap Trot, and the Handicap Trot, from 20 sees, behind scratch. Fisherman was one of the fastest horses of his age in Victoria, his best winning record being 1. mile in 2.27, as a four-year-old ; as a three-year-old he won the £SO Handicap Trot at Richmond, trotting the mile in '2.36, beating the imported colt Beriinwood; on 2nd September, 1907, lie trotted second to Strathbar at Richmond, beating the Sydney horse Presentation and Dixie Alto, trotting his mile in 2.30; on the same day he finished third in the Handicap Trot, 1J mile, beating Lord Harold, Daisy Dean, and a number of other good horses; he also trotted second and third at Epsom; on Ist January, 1908, he also won the Handicap Trot at Barmall from 300 yards behind scratch ; in February, 1908, he won the 2.40 class from 10 sees behind scratch at Richmond, trotting the mile in 2min 27sec; in July, he again won in the 2.30 class at Richmond, also ran second the same day in the 2.35 class, being only beaten by a head; the next meeting at Richmond he won the £oo trot for horses that could trot the mile in 2.25 or better, beating such horses as Emulator, Marvin Wilks (imp), and the Sydney horse St. Elmo; on the same day lie won the 2.30 class trot; he has also run second in six other races, and has a place record of 2.25 in heavy going. Ho has all these performances as a four-year-old. As a five-year-old, in 1908, lie won the £lO trot at Richmond, trotting the mile and 1 furlong, in heavy mud, in 2.55; and also won the 2.27 class trot at Richmond, 1 mile, in 2.27 in heavy going. Fisherman has proved himself a good foal-getter, and is broken tQ saddle and harness. Best placed record, 2.26 to the mile. This horse comes of particularly clean stock,' and was passed by the Government Vet. at the Melbourne Parade m July, 1909, as free from all diseases and injurious strains.
