GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The montlilv meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday. Present — Messrs Kelland (chairman), Mulvihill, Thomson, Wharton, and Barker. Tenders were opened for carting 400 yards of shingle for Ross's road, Woodbury—T. Kellilier at 2s 9Jd per yard; Sugrue Bros. 2s Sd, J. Sugrue sen. 2s 2d (accepted). Correspondence included the following.—

Notices of transfers of properties were received as follows—Of acres. Kapuwai Settlement, l'roiu W. J. Marshall to J. A. Doak ; of lease of sections 8 ami 9, lteserve 359, from Wil.liam Payne to William l'ayne jun. ; of -3Di acres, Opilii survey district, from Mr W. Mill, of Ivakahu, to Mr L. L. F. Reid, of Tiinaru.

Mr Gale and Messrs Booth Macdonald and Co. wrote re stone crushers.— It was agreed to write to Mr Gale for particulars as to capacity of machine, and stating that the overseer might inspect same if it was thought suitable.

Board.taking over the Hanging liotk road ; stating, in relerenee to bird destruction that the C ouneil could not alter a resolution passed hy the Conference; also that, when fresh, old birds' heads could be detected by the stiff bills, and recommending the Board to receive no heads unless they were fresh.—Received. The Lnder-Seeretary for Public Works wrote relative to a return being furnished monthly, showing the number ot men employed on road works carried out under Government grants.—Received. RACECOURSE ROAD.

Mr James Ronnie wrote as follows—- " The racecourse road is opened for one man only, but I can assure I want the road more than ever. Thanking your members for your judgment. Vours truly, Jas. Ronnie." Mr James Enright wrote as follows—'•White thanking the Board for having acceded to my request, and ordered the road through the racecourse at Oniri to be opened, I now wish to withdraw my request, as I find it would put the Racing Club to considerable expense and inconvenience. I therelore trust the Board will rescind the resolution passed on 13th September last."

The Hoard's team lias been employed cart infor repairs to protective works, Pleasant- Valley, repairs to Four Peaks road, W.'iill; (Jorge road, Woodbury. Boundary road, carting willows lor Orari plantation reserve protection, and other small works. Tho daymen have been engaged clearing Uiddlemiss's road drain. breaking stones, clearing AVailii Gorge track, etc. i'he plantation reserves have been inspected, and it was decided to put in about 8 chains of willows on tho boundary oi Reserve 18G2, where the Orari Hi veiling been washing; away the bank and fence to cost about £lO, and this work hais been carried out. Ho understood the County Council had agreed to pay £ls lor iixing up Hanging Rock newcutting; tho .Board could now decide what should lie done to the road.
