BOROUGH COUNCIL.

ADJOURNED MEETING. The meeting of the Borough Council which, was adjourned on Monday night was continued last evening. Present —the Deputy-Mayor (Mr Hawkey). Councillors Angland, . Satterth waito, Watson, Raymond, Porter, Gilchrist, Seuley, Beck, and Harney. Tiie Deputy-Mayor said tho engineer had advised Jiim that it would bo necessary to appoint a clerk of works to superintend the new reservoir contract. The engineer recommended that £3 per week be offered for this job. It was decided that applications be called. THE VOLUNTEERS. The Deputy-Mayor said that the Volunteers desired permission to camp in the park for a week. It was desired to comply with the request on the usual terms. £6OOO LOAN. . Tlie Deputy r Mayor read a telegram he had received from Mr Craigie, M.P., that day stating that the State Guaranteed Advances Board had provisions ally agreed to grant a loan, of .£6CQO to the Timaru Borough Council at 3j per cent, for street improvements. TENDERS. Tenders for the erection of a tory on Caroline Bay were recoived' as follows: —Preen and Battersby £215 ss, (accepted), Miller Bros. £228, Pring £235, Petrie and MeDougaU £246 15s Pallissr and Son £234, Anderson and Brown £24S_ 16s. Some of the tenders did not, include plumbing and painting. The accepted tender, and those of Petrie and McDougall, and Anderson and' Brown were the only complete ones. Tenders for sanitary conveniences at tho Century Baths and Heaton street oottage were dealt \vith as follows: Graham £53 7s 6d, Hadlee and dough £54 10s, S. Currie £47 9s (accepted!) Tenders for painting tfhe tea room, caretaker's cottage and fences at Caroline Bay were as Follows:—Mara Bros.. £46. W. Dnnn £43 (accepted), J. and R Home £43 19s.

The fender of j. o'Ha.ctan was tlio only one fnr kerbing in Church street {29 chains nt £2 per chain), and for kerning and channelling in Rhodes street (10 chains nt £4 per chain.)— Both , were accepted.
