TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of this Board was held 1 vesterdav. Present—Messrs •J. Talbot' (chairman), AV. Hyde, A. Bisset, J. J. Ellis, and G. AN. Armitage. Tho pay sheet, amounting to {."J7* 12s lOd, "was passed for payment. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows :

From the secretary, Olandelioyo Coop. Dairy Company, regarding drainage from the l'actory.—Overseer to report. From Messrs D. and Tl. AVatt, asking permission to plough about 10 chains on the side of Alain Island Road, to eradicate tho young gorse.— Granted.

From Mr H. F. Tlarte, asking for sufficient pipes to form a crossing to his property.—Granted.

From Air D. G. Cain, "Rangitata. acknowledging receipt oi* Board's notice re gurse, and promising to have the work done at oneo. - From tho Commissioner of Crown Lauds, notifying that tho "Land Board has sanctioned a transfer of tho L.I.P. 494. section 4, Orakipaoa Settlement, to Charles Maher. Transfers were granted as follows : •Tames Chalmers. 102 acres. Clandeboye, to Mr H. MeDougall: Airs .ianet McCaskill. 1 rood 30 per, AVinciiester, to John Mclnnos; AV. Rutherford, - i acres 2r. 7p., to William Morgan ; A. Bisset. 202 acres 2 roods, also Crown lease 15 acres, to John Wisely. From the engineer, Public AVorks Department, asking the Board to supply sketch of culverts proposed.—Overseer to furnish.

Ifom the I nder-Seerotary of Lands, on the vesting of a shingle reserve in the Borough Council, explaining th.:t the notice only dealt with that portion lying within the borough of Temuka. From Mr T. Orr, asking for permission to cut up tree stumps in the Board's reserve at AA T aitohi.—Left to overseer to deal with.

From Mr VT. Philp, asking for timber for a crossing to his property at Oralupaoa.—Granted. A week's holiday was granted to the overseer (Mr J. W. Joynt) on account of illness.

It was resolved that notices to clear gorse be served on four occupiers in the Orari district.

As a result of a draw, Messrs Talbot and Armitage will retire for the usual election to the Board. Tt was deciued that the overseer advertise inviting offers from owners of a suitable site for the Board's offices and yards.

Mr AVnreinjr waited on the Board with reference to drain cleaning on Boil iug-down Road, and aeee?s = to the river below Orakipaoa.—After discussion it was decided to pay Mr VfareC i !nr '' nll(1 * leave tlio question of the' ford until Thursday next.
