The following cabled messages have been received by local firms from Loudon under date Saturday last: — Bank of New Zealand:—" The market has Closed with good, demand for all kinds of wool. The sales close irregular. Total quantity held over 14,000 bales of which 7000 are New Zealand. Prices are lower for all kinds of crossbreds 5 to Ti per cent. Merinos all kinds: prices are higher. par to 5 per cent. Current prices for North Island farmers' lots —Palmerston North style—-Coarse crossbreds. 3640's quality, average condition, lOd to medium crossbreds, 44-46's quality, lid to llfd; fine crossbreds, 50"s, 124 dto 13£ d. The current quotation for Bradford tops 36's quality (coarse crossbreds) is 132 d per lb: 40's ordy crossbreds 14id to 14Jd, 44's medium loid to 16id, 50's halibreds ISJd to 20id, 56's quarterbreds 21Jd to 23id, 60"s merino 24£ d to 27Jd, 64's super merino 25Jd to 28fd. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company:—•' Sales closed with good competition. 14,000 bales are held over for later disposal. 42,000 bales sold for the Continent and 111,000 bales sold for Home consumption. As compared with last sales (July) closing rates prices are about par to 5 per cent, higher for merino lambs, greasy crossbred lambs, merino fleece, medium greasy crossbred, scoured crossbred, and scoured merino." Press Association cable of the same date says:—At the wool sales 75,000 bales were sold to Home buyers. 41 000 went to the Continent, 4*oo to the United States and 13.000 bales were carried over.
