Hearst, on behalf of New York "American," offers £IO,OOO for the first flight across the United States, for heavier than air machines. The prize is open to all comers, and thirty days is allotted' for the journey. CASUALTIES. LONDON, Oct. D. Captain Dickson, the airman who wa s seriously injured in a collision in mid-air at Milan, was successfully operated on, but is still delirious.
Captain Maziewitch, a Russian aviator, who on Wednesday liad successfully carried M. Stolypin. the Premier, fell 100 metres on Friday at St. Petersburg, and was instantly killed.
