They recommended that the hall he supplied with water for tiro prevention purposes; that, the front doors be fitted to lock open while the hall is in use: and thatthe request for a refund oi license fees paid be respectlull declined. —The report ww adopted. A special committee appointed to report upon an application by the South Canterbury Education Board recommended that as the Council has no section of the area required unlet, if the Board can make arrangements with any of the .Borough tenants for the -transfer of a suitable block the Council should offer no objection to the transfer of such lease. — Agreed to. The water Committee recommended the erection of two additional .standpipes lor water cart purposes, and that a trial lot of concrete blocks be made lor the purpose of protecting the hydrant and sluice boxes, the men to he employed making such blocks durwet weather.—Adopted. , i hree tenders ]or shingling were received and that of W.
