The Victorian Minister of External Affairs stated that, this session steps would be taken ti> .secure lor the Federal Government more control of labour conditions. The berths of three hundred people have been booked for October. In time of war SOO.OOO men will bliable to serve under the new Defence Act. The Commonwealth has not .sufficient rifles for this number, but the small arms factory will be working by the end of the present year."
