USE OF STONES. The Newport dockers, claiming a tonnage rate, refused to load Houlder's stcammer Beacon Grange, despite the fact that the award is in favour of a day rate. The Shipping Federation have imported free labourers, some of whom were stoned. Three arrests have been made.

PERTH TRAM STRIKE. Received P.. 10 a.m.. Aim 18. PERTH, August IP. The tramway strike lias ended, mid the trams will start on Saturday. New employees are being engaged. The strikers have formally severed connecton with the Company to avoid being prosecuted.

A few trams were run to-day. There was considerable rowdyism and the pol:ce had difficulty in keeping the roadway clear. Three arrests were made.
