TROTTING CLUB. | A special meeting of tie TimarH Trotting Club was held last night. Present—Messrs F. Watson. W. Quirk, J. Skinner. R. R. Johnson. W. Ogdon, 11. Sfjirf. G. Hirchfiold, j. Gilchrist, 11. McLean, J. McDonald, and W. Connolly. The secretary said that the president «f iho Huh had left for Australia and would he away until Christinas: it would therefore he nccessarv to elect a chairman in his stead. Mr I'. C. Watson was unanimously elected to this position, and he returned thanks for the honour conferred upon him. The secretary to the N.Z. Trotting Oonierence wrote that it could not see its way to advise any increase this year m the number of "nerruits for ths use of the totalisator at" trotting meetings. The secretary said that when in Wellington about this matter, he had been well received, and had been given to understand that the S.C. Trottinn- Club would be favourably considered" when the distribution <.;" permits comes under consideration next year. Tile meeting decided upon the candidates it would sunnort as members of the next Trotting Conference. Mr Scarf was annointed to si°n cheques with the chairman. The chairman suggested that in view of the early "wining out" of th° bookmaker, the Club should hold a race meeting : ,r an early date—before the law prohibiting the bookmaker is passed. After a careful perusal of dates it was decided to npniy to the Trotting Association for have to hold a meeting on December S.
