PLEASANT POINT.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) With the exception of a. southerly (Which brought with, it rain and hail on Saturday morning, .splendid weather had prevailed during the last week, 'llie fanners are. anticipating to .sow Mieir spring crops, for which a fair acreage lias been ploughed, but is too tWet for cultivation just now, owing to Lambing has. not commenced in gen£he heavy rains on Sunday week, eral, but a few paddocks in different parts of the district are spotted with iambs. A little- grain has been sent to Timaru during the, last fortnight, farmers taking the opportunity of getting in Carted when their teams can be doing nothing else. The owners of motor cars arc having a, little experience in crossing Korslake's Creek in Totara, some of them .having to get favour of passers-by to give them a, "pull out." The ford was swept away by the recent floods and had to he filled up with shingle causing it to be soft in the bottom. At a special meeting of the committee ( of the Pleasant Point District High School a letter was received from the ladies who-ore working hard for a. small bazaar to be held in October, asking permission to hold a. social in the Technical School on Tuesday, August 23rd, the proceeds to bo handed Sto the ladies committee. On Friday evening n. danco was held in the Oddfellow* Hull in aid of the Pleasant Point Athletic Club. There Was si fair attendance. The catering ■was on the hands of Mr J. Murray. Messrs Coombs' hand contributed excellent music, and a very enjoyahlo dance broke up in the small hours pf the morning.
