Tlio schooner Lizzie Taylor left Wellington for Haveloek at 9.5 a.m. on. Thursday last, where she will load a full cargo of timber for Timaru. The s.s. Kaituna is reported to be loading timber at Greyrnouth for Lyttelton and Timaru. The s.s. Wanaka loft Bluff at 10 a.m. yesterday, and is due here early this morning to land timber and general cargo, and to load for Napier, Gisborne and Auckland.

The s.s. Taviuni completed the loading of her 350 tons produce at 9 p.m. on Saturday, and left for Lyttelton. The collier Waihora completed the discharge of her part cargo of coal at midnight on Saturday, and left for Oamaru at 3.15 a.m. yesterday. From Oamaru she proceeds to Newcastle to bring a further, consignment of coal lor New Zealand ports. News has been received that the P. and O. Company which recently pur- > chased the business and the fleet of | Lund and Sons Blue Anchor line has ordered four largo steamers of between' 14,000 tons and 15,000 .tons for the, trade from London, to Australia via' tho Cape of Good Hope. j The well known barquß Empreza is to make one more passage, befora ending her long sea-going career of 45 years. The vessel is to take a cargo of coal from Newcastle to Dunedin, and on arrival at the latter port, she will be dismantled and converted into a coal hulk for the "Onion Company. The Maoriland Company's, steamer Holmdale at present discharging timber at Lyttelton from Greyrnouth will go on the slip at Lyttelton for an overhaul. She will atterwards return to Greympjith to load for Onehunga. The present port of call will be Kaipara where the Holmdale will load for .Wellington and Timaru.

The barque Triton, which has been daily cxpacted here for some time, arrived off the port early yesterday morning from Maiden Island. As there was a heavy easterly swell runf ning, the vessel was signalled to remain, outside, and took up an anchorage in the roadstead. The barque has » lull cargo of guano for the Canterbury Meat Coapony, and will berth this morning after medical and Customs inspection. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd., are tgente for the vessel. THE LAUDERDALE. Per Press Association. ? ' WELLINGTON, July 3. Captain Macarthur, managing director of the Maoriland Steam Ship Co. has received a telegram from Lloyd's containing instructions to sell the Lauderdale.

At a meeting of the Chamber- of Commerce and consignees of cargo by tho Indradevi to-day a motion was passed urging the Minister of Marine; to authorise the steamer to proceed iouth and pointing out that the action of the Government surveyor in objecting to such a proposal was contrary to the advice of tho underwriters' surTeyors, and officers of the steamer, whUc her detention would result in serious loss to tho consignee*. Subsequently a message bearing on the matter was sent to the Minister of Marine and telegrams were, also sent to Wellington and Christchurch advising what had been done.
